My Special Hero
"Happy Father's Day"

I thought this was a perfect time
for me to come and say
That I love you and I miss you
in a most affectionate way

Did you know you were my hero
from the time that I was small
Always standing by my side,
were there to catch me if I fall

And you were the biggest bravest man
that I had ever known
Ten feet tall and standing strong
even after I was grown

I never got to say goodbye
or hug you long and tight
And God knows that if I had known
I would have stayed home that night

Even though we did no wrong,
just at an ill fated place and time
This does not keep you from your grief
and all the "what if's" that come to mind

Just know that though my life was short
I did so richly live
Did all the things I loved so much
and true love I did give

The Lord, He greatly blessed me
when my father He did choose
And eighteen years of unconditional love
there's no way I could loose

And whenever you think about me
just know that I am near
I smile when you are happy
and when you're sad I catch your tears

I am not alone,
I have Jesse by my side
Just like you were always there
and was my hero and my guide

I can never leave you
I live within your heart
And you always were my hero,
you were right from the start
